Kitty - My First CG by LuxInvictus Kitty - My First CG by LuxInvictus
Just picked a random drawing with which to learn photoshop. Comment more on the coloring, since I know the drawing is sub-par. I put this up because I need feedback on the CGing.

Drawing Time: Unknown
Coloring Time: 1 hour
Colored with Pixia

photoshop eh? I'd suggest that you select within the line art, feather it about 2 pixels, and then color it to increase the chances of getting rid of those grey dots. I would also suggest you use more than 1 level shadow and include highlights.

There are 3 methods that I know that will help you color better:
Multiplying your lineart
Coloring over the lineart
Coloring within the lineart

I hope this helps :) Just ask if you need more adv.

............

Dude, you lost me after "I'd suggest that you..."

Keep in mind, that I'm self-taught; I just picked up a copy and started playing with it, so I'm not up on all the terms. Also, I'm not using Adobe PhotoShop, it's a program called Pixia, which is a free shareware knockoff (most of the features are the same as PS, though). So try to explain slower, and use more generic terms ^ ^;;

Btw, I also got a pixia program, I'm thinking it might help me do old amiga/98 J art.

A slower explanation: Select the space in between the line art using the magic wand tool, go to select, then filter, and enter 5 pixels.

Or, you can modify a layer for the pic by right clicking on them, and for layer method, select multiply, in this case you want to multiply the line art. Then make new layers under the line art layer and start coloring.

I too was self taught, so I assume that you'll grasp some concepts in no time. as long as you search for some cg tutorials, and weigh them out, you'll see what I'm talking about :)

This is really Az's juristiction, but I guess Ill try and take a crack at it. Over all, the CG is pretty good for a first try, however, the inside edge of the line art of the hair needs to be cleaned up, just use a small brush and go around it. Anyway, thats all I can really see...Nice job for a first. man.
